Veneers

Dental veneers are a cosmetic dentistry option that uses incredibly thin porcelain “shells” to cover the visible portion of your teeth. It is a versatile treatment that can accomplish numerous things at once.

Getting a set of veneers allows you to customize the appearance of your smile. Veneers are not a one-size-fits-all solution, & you’ll play a vital role in crafting your new smile.

Our veneers require two office visits:
At your first visit, the enamel on the existing tooth will be reduced to help make room for the veneer. An impression of the reduced tooth is taken so that the porcelain veneer can be constructed in the dental lab.
At your second visit, the remaining enamel surface of the tooth & inside portion of the constructed veneer are etched & coated with a resin cement, & the veneer is bonded to place on the tooth. Once placed, a high-intensity light is projected on the veneer to harden the bonding material that cements it in place. The resulting veneer looks like a natural tooth, & the surrounding gum tissue is healthy.

  • The planning process is the most important step in getting dental veneers. Savannah Dental uses digital technology to map out your current dental structure. This information allows your team to design veneers that will be both beautiful & natural-looking.

When the time comes to begin your veneers, your dentist begins by removing a small portion of your natural tooth tissue. This makes room for the veneers to fit, & you’ll receive a set of temporary veneers to wear while the dental lab crafts your custom veneers.

Once your veneers are ready, you’ll return to have them checked for fit & color before they’re cemented into place. You’ll walk out with a smile you’ll love sharing with the world.

  • Once your veneers are in place, they’re very durable & require no special care. You should continue brushing & flossing to avoid decay & gum disease. Scheduling routine dental exams is also important.

Always avoid biting down on hard foods or non-food items. You should never use your teeth to pry things open or hold items in place. Even chewing ice can damage your veneers, just like it can damage your natural teeth.

Remember, veneers are attached to the front of your teeth, so any movement that causes the veneer to twist or pull away from your natural tooth is to be avoided. A yearly fluoride treatment is also recommended.

  • Veneers are considered the ideal choice for enhancing most smiles. Veneers can be used to correct an array of cosmetic issues such as worn teeth, discoloration, & chipped or uneven teeth.

If you crave a gorgeous smile, veneers might be right for you.

Porcelain veneers can provide more proportional accuracy than bonding, & will not stain or chip as frequently as bonding.
