Implants

If you are missing any of your permanent teeth, dental implants can restore your smile, as well as your ability to bite, chew, & speak confidently. Dental implants are titanium screws that act as a root when you are missing a tooth. They are implanted into the jaw to restore a person’s ability to chew or their appearance. They provide support for artificial (fake) teeth, such as crowns, bridges, or dentures.

Implant FAQs

  • Dental implants serve as replacement tooth roots. They’re small posts made of titanium that provide a firm, long-lasting foundation for oral prosthetics like crowns, fixed bridges, or implant-supported dentures.

Unlike other types of restorations, implants don’t rely on your remaining teeth for support. Instead, they are placed into your gum line during a quick, outpatient procedure. Following treatment, your bone grows around each implant. cementing them to your jaw.

  • We offer several types of dental implants:

    • Traditional dental implants - These can replace one, some, or all of your permanent teeth. During a traditional implant placement procedure, we would place a single post for each of your missing teeth.

    • All-on-4 implants - These can replace an entire arch of teeth with only four implants. What’s more, there’s no lengthy recovery period or waiting for a lab to make your prosthetics. You can receive teeth-in-a-day, snap-on dentures, or an implant-supported bridge in just one appointment.

    • Single-tooth implant - If you’re missing one permanent tooth, consider single tooth implants. We will place a single metal post into a small incision in your gum line. We then take digital impressions of your remaining teeth & send them to a lab that manufactures a crown or implant-supported bridge.

  • The type of dental implants that are right for you depends on your oral health history, the condition of your jaws & gum tissue, & your budget. Following a comprehensive oral exam & a series of 3D X-rays, our team can recommend implants that align with your needs.

  • Following implant placement, you can eat most of the things you normally would, except for especially hard, chewy, or brittle foods. Follow our recovery instructions carefully. You can return to your regular diet about 6-10 weeks after your surgery.

  • Before placing your implant(s), your doctor will administer a local anesthetic to numb your tooth roots & gums. If you have low pain tolerance or suffer from dental anxiety, you can also undergo sedation dentistry. Our team can provide an anesthesiologist upon request.

Once the anesthesia wears off, it’s normal to experience some mild swelling & sensitivity. However, these symptoms should subside within a day or two of your procedure. Many people return to work & other routine activities within 48 hours.
