Procedure Descriptions
Invisalign
Invisalign is an attractive alternative to traditional metal braces. It is a series of clear, custom-fit removable mouth trays that apply a controlled amount of force to your teeth to slowly straighten them. The system provides the same beautiful results as traditional braces, but they are virtually invisible. Because Invisalign trays are removable, they can be taken out while eating, drinking, brushing and flossing.
The Invisalign system begins in the dentist or orthodontist's office with taking molds to design your trays. Patients switch trays every two weeks to gradually shift the teeth. The system requires a visit to the office every six weeks so that treatment can be monitored. Once treatment is complete, a patient will likely be given a retainer to maintain the smile. The cost of Invisalign varies according to the complexity of the case. Insurance policies generally cover Invisalign to the same extent that they cover traditional braces.

Implant Placement
A dental implant is an ideal tooth restoration for people who are missing one or more teeth for reasons like injury or periodontal disease. A permanent solution to restore your smile and confidence, dental implants are the best, most stable and longest-lasting treatment for tooth replacement.
Thanks to advanced technology, today’s dental implants are strong, beautiful and completely natural looking. Comfortable and cosmetically appealing, dental implants can help you regain a strong, healthy bite, without the inconvenience of bridges or dentures – often in as little as one or two office visits.
In addition to replacing teeth, dental implants can be used to support a bridge and eliminate the need for a removable partial denture, or provide support for a denture, making it more secure and comfortable.

Porcelain Veneers
What are Porcelain Veneers?
Porcelain veneers require two office visits. On visit one, the enamel on the existing tooth will be reduced to help make room for the veneer.
An impression of the reduced tooth is taken so that the porcelain veneer can be constructed in the dental lab. On your second visit, the remaining enamel surface of the tooth and inside portion of the constructed veneer are etched and coated with a resin cement, and the veneer is bonded to place on the tooth.
Once placed, a high-intensity light is projected on the veneer to harden the bonding material that cements it in place. The resulting veneer looks like a natural tooth, and the surrounding gum tissue is healthy.
Am I a Candidate for Porcelain Veneers?
Porcelain veneers are considered the ideal choice for enhancing most smiles. Veneers can be used to correct an array of cosmetic issues such as worn teeth, discoloration, and chipped or uneven teeth. If you crave a gorgeous smile veneers might be right for you. Porcelain veneers can provide more proportional accuracy than bonding, and will not stain or chip as frequently as bonding.
Maintaining Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain Veneers should be treated like normal teeth with a few exceptions. Avoid ripping or tearing motions such as using your veneers as a tool for biting nails or opening plastic bags. Avoid biting down on nuts, ice, and finger nails or other hard items, as this can damage dental veneers.
Remember, veneers are attached to the front of your tooth, so any movement that causes the veneer to twist or pull away from your natural tooth is to be avoided. A yearly fluoride treatment is also recommended.
Periodontal Screening/Gum Disease
The status of your periodontal health is assessed next. Hygienists look for redness, bleeding, and inflammation. They gently measure the space between your gums and your teeth with a tiny probe. Ideally there should be very little space.
The presence of excess space, 4-5mm that bleeds is referred to as "pockets", can generally be reduced with proper oral care and a deep cleaning. Pockets larger than this require more extensive treatment than a cleaning alone. If left untreated, large pockets are the leading cause of adult tooth loss.
Crowns
Crowns are used to repair a tooth when large portions are broken or decayed. Crowns can be made from many different materials and are a two visit procedure. The first visit the tooth is temporarily repaired and an impression is sent to the dental lab for them to fabricate a permanent crown. It is at this appointment that we decide on the type of crown. Crowns that show when we smile are made from pressed porcelain’s like EMAX or Porcelain fused to Zirconia (neither of these crowns have any metal)! In areas where more strength is needed we may choose to do a zirconia or occasionally a gold crown. Our doctors are happy to discuss these options in more detail. Our lab is located in Georgia & the crowns are made completely in the Atlanta area unlike many dental labs which send their products off to China to make a cheaper product. We pride ourselves on never cutting corners to provide you long lasting, quality dental work. On the second visit the temporary crown is switched out for a permanent crown. This second appointment rarely requires anesthetic.
Bridges
Bridges are very similar to crowns except they are used to replace a missing tooth. As seen in the picture the neighboring teeth must be reduced to allow room for the bridge to be glued on top of them. Like crowns this is a two visit procedure.
Implant Restorations
Implants are titanium screws that act as a root when you are missing a tooth. Our doctors restore those implants with crowns, bridges, or even dentures.
Implant Dentures
Implants can be used to make dentures more secure. If you have an ill fitting denture, implants may help prevent the need for adhesive.
Partial Dentures
Partial dentures can help replace missing teeth. Often these are a temporary option while waiting for healing after implant surgery, but for some this is a long term solution. Partials can last for 7-10 years and do require relining or maintenance every three years. This is the most cost-effective way to replace missing teeth.
Oral Probiotic & Antioxidant Gels
We are pleased to offer a variety of preventative dental products to aid our patients in at-home dental care.
ProBioraPro, the first probiotics for oral care, feature a highly concentrated blend of probiotics to help extend the benefits of your dental cleanings. These dissolvable mints support gum and tooth health, and naturally whiten teeth. They also crowd out the bacteria that cause bad breath and cavities, and have been shown to lower your risk of cavities when used long term.
PerioSciences AO ProVantage Gel is an antioxidant-infused dental gel. Saliva provides a natural defense against bacteria and other substances harmful to health. Research shows that antioxidants are among the most important elements in saliva, help protect against oral diseases including cancer and are vital to tissue health and healing. Antioxidants can inactivate the bacteria that cause gum disease and even protect against oral cancer and treat certain types of dry mouth. The oral antioxidant gel can help to replenish these antioxidants in our saliva that we naturally lose with age, environmental factors and medication use.
Hygiene Appointment
Scheduling regular dental visits to get your teeth cleaned and find cavities or gum disease in the early stages, before it begins to cause discomfort, is an important part of keeping your teeth and gums healthy, as well as maintaining your overall health.
Your hygienist inspects your teeth for any signs of decay, stains, deposits, or fractures. Any deposits you have are scaled away, and minor stains are buffed and polished away, lowering harmful bacteria and leaving your mouth fresh, clean and shiny!
Your entire hygiene visit will generally last about 60 minutes. Our hygienists partner with our dentists to create a personalized care plan for each patient. Coming in for a dental hygiene visit is much more than an aesthetic experience. If your eyes are the window to the soul, then consider your mouth as the gate to your body. We recommend hygiene visits twice a year for most patients.
